Theater ensembles
Three ensembles, three approaches, one common goal – lively urban theater.

LAMPÁŠ Children's Theater Ensemble
At the Municipal Theater, we decided to provide space for the development of talent for the most gifted children in Banská Bystrica aged 7 to 15, and we created two groups of the LAMPÁŠ children’s theater ensemble – the ISKRA group (7-11 years) and the PLAMIENOK group (11-15 years).
Each school year, both groups prepare one separate performance and one joint stage production. Auditions for the children’s theater group are always held in September, at the beginning of the school year. The conditions for applying for the audition are completion of the first year of elementary school, a demonstration of dance, singing, poetry recitation, and, if the child is proficient, playing a musical instrument.
Theatre ensemble PETRA KARVAŠA
The most significant theater artist in the history of Banská Bystrica was the grandson of the equally significant Banská Bystrica painter Dominik Skutecký, Slovak playwright, theater critic, and scientist Peter Karvaš. The Municipal Theater of Banská Bystrica therefore decided to create a theater ensemble in his honor, which will provide space for the work of primarily young, beginning, and emerging professional artists, students, and graduates of Banská Bystrica art schools – the J. L. Bella Conservatory and the Academy of Arts, who, under the guidance of renowned professional theater creators, will be able to showcase their talent, creativity, and potential, as well as acquire their first practical, technical, and professional skills and experience in the real world of professional theater.

Theatre ensemble ANDREJA SLÁDKOVIČA in Banská Bystrica
It continues the 75-year tradition of an amateur theater troupe that operated continuously in Banská Bystrica until 1995. It brings together citizens of the city and the surrounding area who are interested in active theater activities in all its forms and dimensions—actors, actresses, singers, dancers, wardrobe assistants, makeup artists, prop masters, stage technicians, set builders, sound engineers, lighting technicians, ushers, cloakroom attendants… and who decide to devote their free time, alongside their profession, to the development of their own soul, the spirit of the city, and a shared theatrical experience, under the guidance of professional artists. Citizens of the city and surrounding areas can apply to join the troupe and any of the activities mentioned above at any time by emailing or calling the troupe leader, provided they are at least 15 years old and have an ID card.

Milan Sládek's pantomime studio
Milan Sládek’s pantomime studio is part of the creative background of the Municipal Theater in Banská Bystrica and focuses on the development of pantomime, physical acting, and nonverbal theater.
It is dedicated to education, creation, and popularization of pantomime as a full-fledged theatrical language that works with the body, movement, emotion, and meaning without the use of words. The studio creates a space for professional artists, students, and the public, and continues the tradition of pantomime associated with the name Milan Sládek.
Its goal is to develop a sense of movement theater, support new generations of performers, and connect artistic education with an authentic theater experience.
